MyTAG Android Applications

Use this document to install versions of the Android app.

Please note if personal details or non-authorised apps are loaded on to a MyTAG device you may incur extra costs.
Enabling installation of third party apps on an Android-based devices:
  • Go to Settings on your phone and switch to the "general" tab, if needed.
  • Tap on the "Security" option.
  • Tick the checkbox next to the "Unknown Sources" option.
  • Confirm the warning message by tapping on "OK".
  1. Factory Reset
  2. Go to Settings > App > (three dots at the top) > Reset App Preferences
  3. Enabling installation of third party apps on an Android-based devices:
  4. Settings > Location. Make sure turned on and “Mode” is “High Accuracy”
  5. Ensure NFC is enabled (you don't need P2P or Tap and Pay) - Just Reading and Writing
  6. Set the TIME and REGION
  7. Add Wifi
  8. Click here and download the MYTAG-DEADZONE and save the file to the device. From the device open the Downloads folder and click on the file name.
  9. Swipe a tag to invoke the Deadzone app. Make sure you Allow all premissions and set MyTAG as the default application to open for NFC swipes.

  2. Go to Settings > App > (three dots at the top) > Reset App Preferences

  2. Turn on GPS
  3. Click here and download part 1 and save the file to the device. From the device open the Downloads folder and click on the file name.
  4. Click here and download part 2 MYTAG-DEADZONE and save the file to the device. From the device open the Downloads folder and click on the file name.

  2. Settings > Location. Make sure turned on and “Mode” is “High Accuracy”
  3. Ensure NFC is enabled - MyTAG needs "Just Reading and Writing"
  4. Check the TIME and REGION are correct
  5. Ensure a Wifi point is added
  6. If the phone does NOT have the Play store go to point 6a
  7. Click here and download part 1 and save the file to the device. From the device open the Downloads folder and click on the file name. This might fail. Still continue.
    If the phone DOES have the Play store go to point 6b
  8. Go to the Google Play Store > My apps & gamges > Update all.
  9. Click here and download part 2 MYTAG-DEADZONE and save the file to the device. From the device open the Downloads folder and click on the file name.

If all else fails and the end-user is happy to do so reset all App Preferences (and start again) by:
Go to Settings > App > (three dots at the top) > Reset App Preferences
  1. Factory Reset
  2. Put device on the WiFi
  3. Allow install from Unknown Sources
  4. Uninstall Chinese NFC App
  5. Make sure NFC is turned on
  6. Go to the Play store and sign up for a Gmail Accounts
  7. Settings > Location Enable "Access to my Location" and "Wi-Fi & Mobile Network Location"
  8. Go to the play store and make sure everything is updated
  9. Install Google Chrome
  10. Go to https://get.mytag.io and install MyTAG Swipe
